As well as continuing to support our existing beneficiaries, the trustees will appreciate hearing of any persons formerly employed in the industry who may be in financial distress and would qualify for assistance.
Contact Us In ConfidenceThe Fund helps recipients with monthly, one-off and special grants.
The Fund continues to help recipients with monthly grants towards the costs of running a household, 'one-off' payments towards special need cases for such items as medical equipment, mobility costs, household goods and funeral expenses. Additionally, most beneficiaries receive a further grant at Christmas.
The Fund is governed by a board of Trustees and its assets are professionally managed. All of the Trustees are current or retired members of the industry.
The Trustees review all existing recipients and any new applicant's financial status and needs, and decide, on an individual's circumstances, and with the help of the reports provided by the Liaison Officer, the level of help the Fund is able to give.
The Trustees are very aware of the need for personal contact and the Liaison Officer meets most recipients and new applicants in their homes. The visits are of a casual nature to offer friendly support and advice when needed.
The Trustees would appreciate information concerning any persons formerly employed in the industry, or their dependents, who may be in financial difficulties and thus qualify for assistance; such information may be conveyed in complete confidence using the 'Contact Us' form below.
After over 40 years of awarding grants, the Fund continues to be well positioned to continue supporting former employees and their dependents into the future.
Having worked for a member firm for over 30 years, one of our beneficiaries had to retire due to long term ill-health.
The fund provided a grant to purchase a lightweight wheelchair to allow him to get out and about.
The daughter of a former employee of a firm in the North West was awarded a monthly grant after the death of her mother, to whom she was a full time carer. Her own ill-health left her unable to work.
The SECF helped a former employee with a monthly grant for 3 years.
In addition to the monthly grant, the charity has assisted with the purchase of replacement white-goods when required.
